Andrew Wiggins has not played for the Golden State Warriors in their past 13 games due to an undisclosed family matter. Wiggins last played on February 13 in the Warriors’ 135-126 win over the Washington Wizards.
Warriors general manager Bob Myers explained earlier this month that they were not expecting Wiggins to miss the remainder of the season. He told the 95.7 The Game’s “Steiny & Guru” that he’s hopeful that Wiggins will resolve the issue soon.
“I don’t think that’s what anybody is planning for,” said. “But we’ll leave that in its own place. That’s not the expectation. I think what you’re asking is – could he remain out for a long, long time? I don’t think that’s happening.”
He added:
“I’m going to leave that alone. Hopefully when he gets back, whatever words he would like to say on it, which I don’t think will be much. It’s his private life, he will do.”
However, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr revealed that Andrew Wiggins could be out for the rest of the season. Kerr told reporters on Saturday following their win over the Milwaukee Bucks that Wiggins is dealing with something more important than basketball.
“There’s nothing to report,” Kerr said. “So we’re giving him the space as we talked about, as he deals with something that’s way more important than the game. And if he’s able to come back, then that would be great. And if not, then that’s the case. And whatever happens, we handle it accordingly.”
The Warriors have been quiet about the family matter Wiggins is dealing with right now. Wiggins’ girlfriend, Mychal Johnson, remains active on Instagram. She’s posting images of their daughters, Amyah and Alayah, so the family matter he’s dealing with might not be related to them.

Steph Curry offers support to Andrew Wiggins
Steph Curry offered support to Andrew Wiggins, who has been away from the team since before the All-Star break. Wiggins is dealing with an undisclosed family matter that might be serious given the somber messages of support from members of the Golden State Warriors organization.
“It’s a tough situation in terms of him being away for so long, but necessary,” Curry said. “Life is bigger than basketball. Whatever him and his family are going through, that’s all that matters. Whenever he’s ready to come back, I’m sure he will.”
Wiggins has played in just 37 games this season so far. He’s averaging 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.2 steals while shooting 47.3% from the field and 39.6% from beyond the arc. The Warriors are 17-15 without Wiggins this season.
