According to Forbes, the Hornets are worth up to $1.7 billion. As of October 2022, the team was listed as the 27th most valuable team in the entire NBA. Jordan bought a majority stake in the team back in 2010 for $175 million. Since then, they have grown into a valuable team in the league.

The Hornets have been around the league since the 1988-89 season as an expansion team. Since then, the organization has been able to grow its worth, and the involvement of Jordan has helped boost their valuation.

Taking a look at the great players of the Charlotte Hornets over the years

The Charlotte Hornets were first introduced to the NBA as an expansion team back in 1988 and have had a few successes since then. Looking at their history in the postseason, they haven’t had a deep run as a franchise. The farthest they’ve achieved as a team was the second round. They’ve lost all their appearances in the second round.

While they haven’t been successful as a team, that hasn’t stopped them from acquiring great players. Here are some of the great players who have played for the franchise.

Kemba Walker

Possibly the greatest player to play for the Charlotte franchise, Kemba Walker spent most of his prime as the prime point guard of the team.

He’s the all-time leading scorer for the Hornets, with 12,009.

Alonzo Mourning

Alonzo Mourning spent only three seasons with the organization, but had notable success with them. He was a two-time All-Star for the Hornets and made a name for himself as one of the best shot blockers in the league at the time, averaging 3.2 blocks with them.

Larry Johnson

Mourning wasn’t the only big man the fans watched in Charlotte. Larry Johnson was his frontcourt mate and they wreaked havoc together. Johnson had five seasons with the Hornets, where he became the 1991-92 Rookie of the Year and a two-time All-Star.
