IND vs AUS: Many Indian stars have gained ground on the most current MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings in recognition of their outstanding efforts during the just concluded Border-Gavaskar series against Australia.

Due to his 25 wickets at an average of 17.28, seasoned spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, 36, was voted Player of the Series, regaining exclusive possession of the No. 1 ranking among Test bowlers over England seamer James Anderson.

With his record-breaking century during the fourth Test of the series in Ahmedabad, Virat Kohli, a teammate, made a significant move in the Test batter rankings, moving up seven spots to 13th overall.

After scoring a brilliant 186 in the drawn final match of the series, Kohli ended the series at 1205 days without a Test century. The right-handed batsman is now India’s second best Test hitter, behind only teammates Rishabh Pant (in ninth place) and Rohit Sharma (in 10th place).

After an astounding 264 runs across the four games, Axar Patel’s strong series with the bat was recognised, as he rose eight spots to 44th on the list of batters and one spot to fourth overall on the list of all-rounders.

Usman Khawaja, an experienced opener, moved up two spots to seventh place in the Test batter rankings after scoring a series-high 333 runs, and Cameron Green, an up-and-coming all-rounder, jumped up 11 spots to 26th place after scoring his first Test century in the fourth Test.

With a new career high of 853 rating points, Travis Head, a left-handed opener who just switched positions, had a successful outcome to his wild series. He maintained his fifth-place ranking among Test batters.
