According to a recent report from L’Equipe, Karim Benzema is close to agreeing a new one-year deal with Real Madrid.
It comes in the wake of rampant speculation regarding the veteran’s future. Both Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign the Frenchman but up to this point, there’s been no official confirmation one way or the other.
Benzema has spent a long time solidifying himself as one of Real Madrid’s greatest ever strikers, and it seems like he wants to keep that trend going, as opposed to testing the waters in the Premier League.
At the age of 35, one would imagine this is the last major opportunity he’d get to make such a leap. It’d be something of a risk considering that he’s no longer in the prime of his career, but he’s proven time and time again that he can defy the odds when it matters.
