Bangladesh’s readymade garment (RMG) industry is making strides in environmental sustainability with three more factories recently receiving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

Factories recognized for their green initiatives in apparel manufacturing include EnergyPack Fashion Extension Project in Ghazipur Sadar and PN Composite Limited in Konabari in Ghazipur, which received platinum-rated certification, and Dhaka Garments and Washing Limited in South Varnahati, Dhaka, who got this award. According to local media reports, Gold rated certification.

Bangladesh is home to the top eight factories in the world and has 53 of the top 100 factories in the world. According to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), the country now has a total of 192 LEED certified factories, including 68 platinum rated factories.
